Bookmarklet

The FAVORO bookmarklet lets you save any webpage to your bookmarks with a single click, without leaving the page you're on.

What is a Bookmarklet?

A bookmarklet is a special bookmark that runs a small piece of JavaScript instead of navigating to a URL. When you click the FAVORO bookmarklet, it captures the current page's title and URL and sends it to FAVORO for saving.

Installing the Bookmarklet

  1. Go to Settings → Bookmarklet in FAVORO
  2. You'll see a button labeled "Add to FAVORO"
  3. Drag this button to your browser's bookmarks bar

If Drag-and-Drop Doesn't Work

Some browsers require a different approach:

  1. Right-click on your bookmarks bar
  2. Select "Add page" or "Add bookmark"
  3. For the name, enter "Add to FAVORO"
  4. For the URL, copy the bookmarklet code from the settings page

Using the Bookmarklet

  1. Navigate to any webpage you want to save
  2. Click the "Add to FAVORO" bookmarklet in your bookmarks bar
  3. A new tab opens with the add link form pre-filled
  4. Select the area and section where you want to save the link
  5. Adjust the label if needed
  6. Click Save

The link is now saved to FAVORO.

Tips for Using the Bookmarklet

Keep the Bookmarks Bar Visible

For quick access, keep your browser's bookmarks bar visible. Most browsers let you toggle this with Cmd+Shift+B (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows/Linux).

Position for Easy Access

Place the FAVORO bookmarklet at the beginning or end of your bookmarks bar where it's easy to find and click.

Edit Before Saving

The bookmarklet pre-fills the link label with the page title, but you can (and often should) edit it to something shorter and more descriptive before saving.

Troubleshooting

Bookmarklet Not Working

If clicking the bookmarklet doesn't do anything:

  1. Make sure you're logged into FAVORO in another tab
  2. Check that the bookmarklet code is correctly saved (it should start with javascript:)
  3. Some sites block bookmarklets for security - try on a different page

Wrong Page Title

The bookmarklet captures whatever the browser shows as the page title. Some sites use long or uninformative titles - just edit the label before saving.

Can't Drag to Bookmarks Bar

  1. Make sure the bookmarks bar is visible
  2. Try a different browser
  3. Use the manual installation method described above

Browser Support

The FAVORO bookmarklet works in all modern browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Brave
  • Opera

Security Note

The bookmarklet only reads the current page's URL and title. It doesn't access any other information on the page or track your browsing history.
